Every Summer we take on a challenge and push ourselves beyond our limits. In summer 2021 on the 31st of July, we will take on the #Run4KomaChallenge!

WellWater is working to alleviate the poverty in Koma Hills, Nigeria! Last year we walked to build a school. This year we are running against poverty! We are looking at the six thematic areas of poverty and we want to boost 5 of these 6 areas in Koma Hills so that the community can not just survive but flourish and be self-sustainable!

This year we are running either: A marathon, 33Km, a half marathon or 10Km to help beat poverty in Koma Hills.

Our goal is to provide Koma Hills not just a SUSTAINABLE SCHOOL in the heart of the community, BUT also:

1.) Composting Toilets. 1.5 million children die each year from diarrhoea-related diseases, often connected to poor sanitation. Many development experts believe most of these deaths could be prevented with proper sanitation, safe drinking water and improved hygiene. We need your help to fundraise for:

Materials for the structure for the toilets, 6 Toilets, 2 Water basins, 12 Buckets, 1 Rainwater Harvesting Tank, Gutters and pipes.

2.) Agriculture Initiative (Composting area). We want to enable the community to make the most of ALL resources available. Yes, thats right - even human waste. The agriculture initiative will involve installing facilities for composting, helping to increase the fertility and productivity of the land. We need your help to fundraise for:

Wooden pallets, Buckets, 1 Rainwater harvesting tank, Personal safety equipment and Cleaning equipment.

3). Solar panels: We want to provide clean energy for the school, so they can make the most of the new building. A solar panel system will provide electricity for the school building. We need your help to fundraise for:

6 Solar Panels, 1 Inverter, Electric box, 2 Batteries, Cables and Solar Panel Rack.

4.) Water Wells. There are still more than 9,000 inhabitants in Koma who are in need of clean water. We need to create more water wells to prevent people from developing more illnesses and infections caused by drinking water from the river.
