We just can't help fantasising about all the different foods we'll enjoy at Iftar. Has anyone else noticed how creative everyone gets during the month? Your little brother suddenly wants to make a five course meal?
While many of us are fortunate enough to be able to do that, in Yemen, food shortages and malnutrition are taking people's lives. Islamic Relief is challenging you to help feed families in Yemen who aren't as fortunate.
Take on the Ready Steady Iftar challenge! Challenge yourself to create a single dish or a whole meal inspired by the contents of a food pack provided to families in Yemen. Set up a fundraising page and charge your family members for their meal or share your page with friends and family to raise money to feed the people of Yemen.
From a date loaf to biryani, or even a rice pudding jelly tiramisu, the possibilities are endless! Whatever you choose to make, Islamic Relief will provide you with a fundraising pack to help create that ready steady iftar atmosphere, with bunting so you can decorate your home, recipe ideas from countries Islamic Relief operates in, score cards for your family to rate your cooking and table decorations to add a little bit of spice.
Once you've created your dish, take a picture and upload it to social media and we'll repost it. Tag 3 of your friends and challenge them to take part using the hashtag #readysteadyiftar.
And if that wasn't enough, every week we'll have a different chef on Instagram Live cooking up a storm, giving you inspiration and teaching you new skills. That could be you too! After you've uploaded your image, use the hashtag #readysteadyiftar, and every week well choose someone to join our chef on our virtual cooking show.
Here's what's inside our Yemen food packs: wheat flour, sugar, rice, wheat grains, salt, dates, tomato sauce, tomato paste.
