Story
In 2016, Police Dog Finn was stabbed in the line of duty protecting his handler PC Dave Wardell. After making a full recovery and returning to duty, Finn and Dave spent years campaigning for Finn's Law to give greater protection for service animals across the United Kingdom, as Finn's attacker was only able to be charged with criminal damage, for the vicious attack on Finn.
In 2019, The Animal Welfare (Service Animals) Bill, known as ‘Finn’s Law’, came in to force, giving greater protection for all service animals, especially Police dogs on the frontline.
In honour of Finn and his remarkable life, the Thin Blue Paw Foundation would like to erect a memorial statue to celebrate the life and service of Retired Police Dog Finn. Further details regarding the memorial will be released over the coming months, all funds raised will go towards the creation and build of the memorial in memory of Retired Police Dog Finn.
Any funds raised over the total fundraising figure, will be ring fenced by the board of trustees, and will be allocated towards the charities objective of supporting serving and retired police dogs from across the United Kingdom.
