Last year the outdoor lighting around the war memorial next to St Claires church was vandalised before Remembrance Sunday. A repair has been made to the lighting and a request has been made through Paul Howarth whos Dad was pivotal in fundraising for the memorial to help provide anti vandal covers for the lighting.

Aycliffe Rotary applied to Durham County Council are were successful in their application from the small grants fund and received £995 towards the cost of the enclosures. This leaves a shortfall of £700 which Aycliffe Rotary are appealing for support with from the people of Newton Aycliffe. Please support our fundraising efforts for this.
