St Mary's is a thriving church in the heart of Felpham, West Sussex. Comprising a large, diverse group of people, we are active in local life, reaching out to those within the church; those outside of it; and those sitting on the fringes (like William Blake, our most famous former resident).

Story

Ross, a fisherman and resident of Felpham for over 70 years HAS undertaken a challenging row from Felpham to the Isle of Wight and back, in his 60+year-old Pearson glass fibre fishing boat, made locally at Ford. Ross says “this challenge is close to my heart. It combines my love of the sea with an opportunity to contribute to our local church and honour Queen Elizabeth II’s legacy.” A strong, southerly wind prevented Ross from getting to Ventnor on his first day, 17/8, this being where his mother was born and where his grandfather was a local fisherman. He turned around within 5 miles of the shore and instead rowed to Bembridge. He had rowed for 10.5 hours that day! He rowed home to Felpham on 19/8 to a great welcome on Felpham Sailing Club beach. What a hero! He was even interviewed by BBC Radio Sussex whilst rowing home and was not even out of breath!
