Story
Ronnie is 1 years old from Northampton. He suffered from HIE (Hypoxic Ischaemic Encephalopathy, lack of oxygen) at birth and spent the beginning of his life between several hospital wards.
As a result of the HIE, Ronnie has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at only 5 days old. The cerebral palsy is evolving as he grows older. At 3 months old Ronnie developed infantile spasms which is a rare form of epilepsy, although the spasms are not dangererous seizures they can have serious impact on development. So, after going through seeveral medications we now have them under control.
Even with all he has been through so far, Ronnie is a cheeky little boy with the biggest smile and best personality (he will tell you when he is not happy with you!) he loves sensory toys and lights, especially fairy lights and his favourite, the Christmas tree! He is becoming very musical and loves instruments, his favourite being the cabasa as he loves the sound and the feel of it, and he lights up when his mummy sings his favourite song to him, "If Youre Happy and You Know It!"
We are hoping to be able to fund private physio sessions for Ronnie. The NHS are only able to provide 1 session a month and we have learned that we will need these on a much more regular basis. Seeing how much Ronnie benefits from these sessions is amazing. He is already made so much progress and we hope that we will continue to see further growth as time goes on. We really want Ronnie to have as much independence as possible, and early intervention is key in making this happen.
There are so many types of therapies that Ronnie can benefit from. He currently has music therapy which is his absolute favourite and we have seen amazing improvement in his visual tracking so we really want to make sure we can continue with this.
We really appreciate any support you are able to provide in helping our little Ronnie on his journey.
