STEAMING ON TO 100
The world-famous Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway has a proud history. Since its founding 93 years ago it has served holiday makers and locals alike and was even requisitioned during the war to improve the coastal defences.
In 2027, the railway will celebrate its centenary and we need to make sure it steams through the next few years to get there safely and be able to look forward to its next anniversary.
The RH&DR has been severely affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. Many of its attractions and stations have been unable to open and together with the Railway the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway Association is working hard to raise funds to ensure that the vital works this winter can take place.
We have had a wonderful response from the extended railway family and we want to thank everyone who has donated so far but more help is needed
We still need help to rebuild the engine shed, maintain our track and retain the unique skills of our staff over the remaining winter months,
The Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage grant was very welcome, but it was not quite enough to see us through and we are continuing with our efforts to raise the £50,000 needed. The RHDRA will match all donations up to £50,000 to ensure the work can be completed.
Thankyou for making a donation to the campaign using this Just Giving page and please do consider leaving your name.
You can support the railway on a regular basis by joining the RHDRA
Or by visiting the Railways website www.rhdr.org.uk to see the other fundraising ideas that you can support to ensure that the railway continues steaming across the Marsh - to its centenary and beyond.
World War II didn't stop the railway and Covid wont either!
