Story
The Romney Marsh Community Hub is at the heart of your local community, supporting older people across Romney Marsh. We provide a safe, caring environment with access to services that help improve health and wellbeing, and reduce the feeling of social isolation of the most vulnerable in our community.
The past two years have been challenging for so many and the work of the Hub has never been so vital.
Located in New Romney, with outreach facilities across the Romney Marsh, our charity:
* provides hot home cooked nutritious meals in our restaurant and, for those that are unable to come to us, we provide a community hot meals service daily across the Romney Marsh area, which also serves as a welfare check
* reduces social isolation and offers a chance to forge friendships; for many attendees who live in rural villages this might be their only social opportunity in an otherwise lonely week
* provides the opportunity to take part in a variety of exercise classes and specialist interest groups
* provides a safe place for people to keep warm during the day without the worry that they might have about their energy bills
* provides a transport service which enables anyone from across the Marsh, however rural, to access our Hub
* provides an information and advice service helping our attendees understand their rights and what services and benefits they may be entitled to
With the cost of living crisis looming, we anticipate a greater strain on our services this winter with more people struggling to make their pensions or savings cover the increased cost of heating their homes and putting food on the table. For those within our community already facing financial hardship, the biggest jump in the cost of living in decades will bring immense anxiety and uncertainty.
Please help us to help those in need on the Marsh, by making a donation to our Heat and Eat Appeal.
