Story
The HUMEN Rise Against Suicide Pub Pilgrimage is taking place on Sunday 4th December 2022.
The initiative aims to raise awareness surrounding the UKs alarming mens suicide rates.
Over 5,000 men in the UK and Ireland took their own lives in the last year, accounting for 74% of all suicides. However, men are half as likely to seek out the help and support they need for their mental health. 14 men take their own lives every day.
The 2022 fundraising challenge is a sunrise Pub Pilgrimage, aimed at bringing friends, families and communities together to reflect and honour those we have lost.
HUMEN supporters from around the country will embark on a 5,151m walk at 10am, starting and ending at participating pubs. HUMEN has partnered with HEINEKEN-owned Star Pubs & Bars, events will be held in the following cities, and you can also take part on your own 5,151m route with us:

Why pubs?
Pubs are the cornerstone of many communities, so HUMEN believes they are the perfect place to encourage dialogue, and identify mental health concerns embracing pubs with open arms and creating an amazing opportunity to partner with forward-thinking businesses and encourage people to talk, listen and connect. There are links between alcohol abuse and poor mental health, but HUMEN know that you dont have to be teetotal to have good mental health, and that working with pubs is an opportunity to champion healthy relationships with alcohol.

About HUMEN
HUMEN is a movement to improve and maintain men's mental health through campaigning and The HUMEN Space. Anonymous, preventative, and non-clinical spaces for men to talk, listen and connect on a regular basis. The right to talk should never be a privilege. Its not enough to just say men need to talk so we're providing spaces to do so. Moving beyond the false and limiting notions of what it means to be a man, or a lad, or a bloke. Where inner health is valued as much as outer, creating a better world for men and women. Were lighting a better way forward and together can change the course of a generation. You are human. I am human. We are HUMEN.
