Since 2012, RICH CITY Rides has been getting people outdoors, getting people healthy, and getting people together through the simple, powerful act of riding a bike. What began as a few neighborhood mechanics fixing bikes on the Richmond Greenway has grown into a movement—one that builds community, heals neighborhoods, and reimagines what’s possible in Richmond.

Our Story

We’re deeply grateful for the countless riders, volunteers, donors, and partners who’ve helped us along the way. Your love and support have powered youth programs, bike rides, and community spaces that connect people to one another and to the joy of movement.

Over the years, tens thousands riders have joined us for bicycle adventures that lift spirits and strengthen bonds. Through our Everybody Rides Program, we’ve provided over 3,600 free bikes, along with repair workshops, safety gear, and mentorship for youth and adults—especially those who rely on bikes as their primary transportation.

Today, RICH CITY Rides is growing into something even bigger: a vision for community well-being rooted in mobility, environmental justice, and shared ownership. We’re launching an E-Bike Lending Library, expanding youth development opportunities, and creating spaces that celebrate health, creativity, and empowerment.
