Help us tell a story that could change lives.

Addiction is not a choice. Stigma is.

We are creating CHOICE; a powerful short film that dives deep into the reality of substance use and recovery. This isn’t just another film—it’s a call to action. Through raw storytelling, gripping visuals, and real-life experiences, CHOICE will challenge harmful stereotypes and open the conversation around addiction, recovery, and the societal barriers that keep people from seeking help.

The film has been written by, and starring, our Recovery Lead, Ben, who started at the farm as a volunteer when he was struggling with substance use.

Why does this film matter?

Stigma is one of the biggest obstacles for those struggling with addiction. Many feel judged, shamed, and isolated, which only makes it harder to reach out for support. By bringing addiction into the public light, CHOICE will help shift the narrative:

🛑 Break the stigma—showing addiction as a complex health issue, not a moral failure.

💙 Give a voice to those in recovery—empowering real people to share their journeys.

🎬 Educate & inspire—providing a raw, honest, and artistic portrayal of the struggle and hope of recovery.

This film will be showcased at The Hope Festival 2025, as well as GP surgeries, community events, to promote local Drug & Alcohol services and online platforms to spread awareness and spark meaningful conversations.

We need £2000 to bring this vision to life. Thankfully we have received a generous donation of £1000 from Inclusive Recovery Cities.

Your donation will help cover:

🎥 Production Costs – Professional filming, editing, and sound design.

🎭 Actors & Makeup – Bringing authenticity to the screen.

📢 Marketing & Distribution – Ensuring the film reaches as many people as possible.

Your support—big or small—can make a difference.

Every contribution brings us closer to changing perceptions and saving lives.

Donate today and help us make CHOICE a reality.

Rhubarb Farm is a horticultural-based environmental charity and social enterprise located in Langwith, on the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire border. We offer work placements, training, and volunteering opportunities to individuals facing various challenges, including unemployment, mental and physical ill health, learning disabilities, and those recovering from substance misuse.

Our mission is to provide a supportive and inclusive environment where individuals can develop skills, build confidence, and enhance employability through therapeutic organic horticulture. We believe in the power of community and the positive impact of connecting with nature.

One of our key initiatives is Rhubarb Recovery, led by our Recovery Lead, Ben Sofield, who began his journey with us as a volunteer after overcoming substance misuse. This 12-week program offers participants the opportunity to engage in therapeutic horticulture, animal care activities, and various workshops and training sessions. Volunteers are welcomed into a safe and supportive community, fostering a sense of belonging and purpose.

By supporting our film project, you're not only helping to create a powerful narrative that challenges addiction stigma but also contributing to the continuation and expansion of programs like Rhubarb Recovery. Together, we can cultivate understanding, empathy, and lasting change.

Donate today and be part of this transformative journey.

💙 Thank you for your support.
