Story
Rhodar has previously undertaken four adventure challenges, all to support WellChild. This year marks the fifth exciting event - the ‘Cross-Point Team Challenge’.
Two teams will navigate Derwentwater, in opposing directions, competing against one another to collect the most points. The Challenge will incorporate various challenges along the way, including canoe-orienteering, abseiling, lake jumping and more… all to raise money to support seriously ill children and young people living with complex care needs throughout the UK.
Children like Noah, who dialled in with mum Jill to congratulate last year's challenge participants. Two weeks after Noah was born, he was transferred to Alder Hey Hospital and spent the first 7 months in critical care (intensive care and high dependency unit) and a further 2 months in the transitional care unit. Noah has a very rare lung condition, and is one of only 19 children in the world to have it, and is the first diagnosed in the UK.
He had a tracheostomy to open his airway and was put onto a ventilator which helped him to breathe. He was on this 24/7 and needed round the clock 1-2-1 care.
Noah and his family have had the support of two WellChild Nurses who have been there to support the family through learning how to care for Noah and his ventilator requirements to providing support in transitioning home from hospital.
With the support of WellChild Nurses and the Family Tree, Noah has been able to attend school where he participates in as many activities as he can.
Please support the team at Rhodar to provide more support to children like Noah.
