Richmond Furniture Scheme Starter Kit Fund

We need your help please. £10 can buy a new kettle, £50 can buy a kitchen utensil set or a microwave oven. Many people face moving into social housing with nothing. Your cash can help us to provide essential stater items to people in need.

Story

Funds raised here on Just Giving enable us to buy brand new Kitchen Starter Kits (kettles, toasters, microwave ovens, crockery etc.), which we provide FREE OF CHARGE to people in need, like Paul who escaped domestic violence with his two small children.

They lived together in one small room until he was offered permanent accommodation.  But, because he had no one to help him move, he was forced to leave behind his possessions and start again with nothing:

“You helped me out loads.  I got a microwave, toaster, kettle and plates – I couldn’t believe how much I got.  Everything helped massively.   I don’t know what I would have done otherwise – I’d have to try and get stuff with my benefit money, but we are on the minimum. I can’t thank you enough.”

You may be in need of help to furnish your home or you may know of others who are struggling at the moment - Richmond Furniture Scheme can help.

We are a dynamic community charity which ensures people who need it get good quality preloved furniture and refurbished white goods at affordable prices - or for free if things are very tough, which they often are.

We offer discounts to those on low incomes and some grants are available (through other agencies) for residents of Richmond and Wandsworth to spend with us. We are keen to help whenever we can, so please call us to talk over your situation or that of someone who needs assistance.

People leave our warehouse with a decent bed, a dining table for family meals and enough chairs to have friends round. The little things matter too, we also have cushions, vases, mirrors and colourful rugs - all of which turn a bare house into a cosy home.

Our work also has a massive positive impact on the environment, repairing and recycling donated furniture which probably otherwise would be thrown away. We also provide invaluable volunteering opportunities for the local community enabling people to gain skills and valuable work experience.

So please have a look at our website RFS Online where we have an excellent online shop, come and visit our warehouse in Twickenham or give us a ring to find out more. Anyone is welcome to buy from us and we also offer local delivery at reasonable rates.
