Update - December 2024!
We are excited to share some of our project updates! Thanks for our generous donors, we've been able to complete some phases that will enhance outdoor spaces for our residents:
Replaced upper patio
Enhance nature trail adding crushed concrete
Wildflowers and native grasses were seeded along the lakeshore
Stormwater improvements, including an upgraded pipe that drains into Lake Winona, adding a Stormceptor to protect waterways from pollution, and a sediment basin area added on the south side of Gravel Rd.
Our Community Need
In May 2022, a severe storm swept through the area destroying our handicap-accessible walkway to our lakeside patio.
We have a plan to solve this problem, but we need your help!
We’ve worked with engineers from Douglas County Soil & Water Conservation District in developing a plan to rebuild the patio, renovate the gazebo, and add an accessible nature trail with native flowers, grasses, and seating areas. The plan also includes a patio pergola and furniture, an outdoor grill, and updates needed to better manage water runoff.
Will you give today to solve this issue and significantly enhance the overall experience for residents and their families?
The ability to move freely and comfortably around the Bethel Manor and Winona Shores campus is not only a matter of convenience and safety but also independence and dignity for our residents.
With your support, we can enrich lives by making the shoreline safe and accessible to all!
