At RESTART, we're seeing more people than ever need our support because they are facing homelessness. We are committed to being there for every single person who needs us, whether that's via one to one casework, programmes, therapy or hot food, clothing and vital resources. In order to do this, we need you. We need to raise vital funds so that we can cover the costs entailed in truly being there, and in making a difference. This year over 70% of the people who did casework with us were able to take clear measurable steps to turn their lives around. 100% of individuals who had one to one therapy attended all of their sessions and saw an improvement in their mental health as measured by NHS standard measures. The work we do matters and its free for those who need it, but it's not free for us to provide so please help us raise the fund and be part of this amazing change we can make together.
Studies show that those who are homeless walk between 10 and 15 miles per day to meet basic needs like food and shelter. This Summer we are asking you to take on our walking challenge to raise awareness and to raise vital funds so that RESTART Lives can continue to support those who need us.
On Sunday 8th June, we're getting together as one big movement, and walking a lap of Hyde Park together bearing in mind all of those who have to walk to meet their basic needs, and raising awareness, by our presence and visibility, about this issue that we all care so deeply about.
From 24th May - 7th June we're asking everyone involved to ditch their usual school or work commute transport and to commit to walking instead, using that time to focus in on why we're doing this, and to extend empathy to those who don't have the luxury to choose how they get around, or maybe even don't have the luxury to attend school or work. AND we want to see the proof! We're asking the adults at least to sign up to our group on Strava so we can motivate one another and see everyone getting their steps in. We know some of the crew will love to be competitive too, so look out for our walkers adding strava updates to their individual JustGiving Pages!
As an optional extra, between now and June we're suggesting for participants to set themselves their own walking challenge, whether that's a big walk like the South Downs Way, the Thames Path or the Cotswold Way, or just hitting a daily, weekly or monthly step count or distance count. Make sure you check out each page to see the ways in which people are going the extra mile to support RESTART, and to alleviate if not end homelessness.
