Equipment and support services to Tetraplegics are needed now more than ever due to the pandemic that came in 2020. Tetraplegics are classed as one of the most clinically vulnerable groups, so the isolation restrictions that we all had to follow by law had to be adhered to in a far stricter way. This forced many to become further isolated, lonely and unable to get outdoors. For over 30 years, Regain has provided equipment that has helped keep many grant recipients active, and it has provided them with a much needed boost to their mental health by giving them something to do during a very difficult lockdown period. It has helped break the cycle of boredom and isolation that many tetraplegics face, which is why Regain are looking to support more to meet the demand. In addition, further virtual resources are being developed so that tetraplegics can still have the much needed social interaction. Significantly, the services provided by Regain has had a beneficial impact on families too, enabling them to become closer. Grant recipients have been able to join in on family cycle rides using their newly funded hand cycles, which without Regains support, they wouldnt have been able to do so
