Story
International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8th, this week help us celebrate Refugee Women!
Women and girls make up around 50% of refugee, internally displaced or stateless population. Refugee Women have fled war, persecution and violence and many are at additional risk of physical and sexual violence because of their gender.
How we help
We empower refugee women through weekly sessions. We encourage creativity, English language practice, confidence building and friendship.
I am full of confidence since joining this group. Thank you, you made my day such a lovely day – it’s my new favourite place.
The group meets to share skills and boost self-esteem through activities: Zumba, dance, music, art, pottery, yoga, confidence boosting and stress reduction sessions, day trips, walks around Nottingham – all chosen by the women themselves.
This is a safe space to share experiences, learn new skills and relax. Women attending are less isolated and are building a friendly support network.
We need your support
This International Women's Day, please consider supporting our Women''s group by fundraising or making a donation
£150 provides one workshop or dancing class for 10 women
£550 could provide 2 Creche staff for 5 sessions
£1,000 would pay for our popular annual trip to the seaside for 20 refugee families
From bake sales to music events, from game nights to virtual runs, there are many ways to start fundraising!
