Story
200+ refugees evicted (many young children) from a temporary hostel approximately 120km outside of Athens. The building was previously available to the families under the authority of the Greek goverment until they got their ID cards. Most have not received ID's but are now on the side of the road, it's cold and they may become victims of traffickers false promises and the danger this brings. Goodwill Caravans legal team and partners went out to see families to advise them on their rights & asylum paperwork. Goodwill Caravan have created a coalition with 3 other organisations to move families to a hostel in central Athens with heavily reduced prices. This will provide shelter only the most vulnerable families for 4 weeks until we lobby for the government to find a solution, or failing that we will try to coordinate ongoing shelter with our sister organisations, as we can only take on 15 of the most vulnerable families, as our own emergency shelter project is at capacity. If you can support these families it will cost £15 a night per family. Target to raise for GWC £5000
Coalition of humanitarian organisations for this specific emergency includes; Goodwill Caravan, Vasilika Moon, Medical Volunteers International, Pampereiki. Each individual organisation will take on their own fundraising for the families they assist.
