Story
For many of us, moments like cheering at a Hudson Valley Renegades game, picking out the perfect pumpkin, riding a Ferris wheel at the Dutchess County Fair, or attending a live event are simple joys we take for granted. But for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, these experiences can be life-changing.
Our Recreation Fund creates opportunities for connection, confidence, and belonging. A day at the Dutchess County Fair becomes a chance to try something new. Joining pals for a yoga class builds strength and self-confidence. A picnic or concert turns into a moment of friendship and inclusion. These aren’t just outings—they’re opportunities to grow, connect, and feel part of the community.
Recreational experiences help individuals develop social skills, independence, and self-esteem while creating memories that last far beyond the day itself. This Fund will also bring these experiences to those that cannot attend themselves in the form of the Bubble Bus, the Tumble Bus, mobile petting zoos, and music therapy. Laughter shared on a ride, pride felt at a sporting event, or curiosity sparked during an animal visit all play a meaningful role in enriching everyday life.
Your support makes these moments possible. Every gift helps open doors to experiences that bring joy, foster independence, and remind those we serve that they belong—today and every day.
Together, we are building abilities and enriching lives—one experience at a time.
