Story
WHAT: On Friday, August 2nd we will host our first annual READATHON. The READATHON is our challenge to read out loud one reader at a time, 15-minutes each, all day long to raise funds for our library. Readers and supporters gather to share their love of reading, books, community -- and our Library! Your donations add a little bit of competitive fun. Which reader or team will raise the most funds? Thanks to our sponsor Leckerling, Ladwig & Leamon, LLC for matching all donations up to $2,000! Prizes will be given for most creative, best costume (if you want to dress up) and most money raised. If you don't want to read by yourself - sign up a team!
WHEN & WHERE: Friday, August 2nd from Noon until 7:30 pm, at the Stonington Free Library.
WHY: For over a century, the Stonington Free Library has been committed to offering our programs and services for free to the community and to stewarding the beautiful building we call home.
The library is not just about things- it's also a place for babies to experience early literacy by engaging with books in story time, a place where job-seekers can get help navigating online listings and applications. It's a safe place for teens to be entertained and explore, a place to feature local voices and encourage the expression of new ones. It's a place to engage the imagination and come together. It is truly the heart of our community.
And it's all possible thanks to donations such as yours. Please support our fearless readers and give today!
