Aicha from the village of Taoukarte in Morocco following the devastating 6.8 magnitude earthquake in September 2023.

Aicha was living in a warm and cosy home with her 30 year old son. But following the earthquake was forced to stay in a makeshift tent fashioned from poles covered with just polythene and carpet which was too small and incapable of keeping out the cold winter winds and rain.

The joy and relief on Aicha’s face was clear when she was given one of the tents that REACT supplied and helped erect in her village that day. The team, including neighbours and keen local children, had barely finished putting the tent up when she began moving her bedding in. These purpose made emergency shelter tents were sourced and produced locally in Marrakech and able to house a family of 5 people.
