Silo is a zero waste restaurant in Brighton who provides quality through purity, adopting a more primitive diet with techniques both modern and ancient. Silo creates everything from its whole form cutting out food miles and over-processing whilst preserving nutrients and the integrity of the ingredients in the process.
Doug, Head Chef says:
We would like to talk about suicide prevention. We're just a restaurant, why should we talk about this? Because it's not a private conversation, it's a public one.
The stigma around suicide is often what keeps people from speaking up, reaching out, and finding the support they need. Open, direct conversations about suicide really can save lives.
We're partnering with Grassroots Suicide Prevention to raise awareness of this difficult subject. One in five people will have thoughts of suicide in their life - whether you're aware of it or not, someone you know has had these thoughts.
We know that many people understandably, are fearful about talking about suicide but we believe that open and honest conversation can make a difference.
Stella Comber, Chief Executive at Grassroots Suicide Prevention says:
Conversations about suicide can be gentle and reassuring and most importantly they could save a life.
We believe that we all have the power to make a difference to another person who may be struggling with suicidal thoughts. These thoughts are more common than we think and could affect any of us at any time.
We want everyone in the community to get involved so they are equipped and prepared to help save lives.
Silo have promised to double donations received in this campaign by providing our supporters in return with menu credits. So for every £1 donated you receive £2 off your menu at Silo*.
Please make sure you leave a contact name and email when donating (where possible) so we can let Silo know who will be booking a table.
*Silo credits are available for regular dinner menu's only.
Stella Comber says:
We must let our loved ones, friends and colleagues know that its ok to talk about feelings of suicide and despair. We need people to know that there is help and support out there and that the pain and intensity that comes with suicidal feelings will pass.
