The aim of the event is to raise money for vital services provided by our main project, Care & Share, to people in addiction or recovery from drug & alcohol issues and people affected by homelessness.
The main activity of our charity is a drop-in service called Care & Share. In the last year Care & Share has provided over 1000 meals. Also during our weekly drop-in 500+ referrals were made to a number of different professional servcies who provide specific support to our client group. We also have a furniture delivery service that helps users moving out of homelessness into rented accomodation. The service collects donations of furniture and assists service users in furnishing their new accomodation. This is a vital service particularly to many of our members who are in poverty and struggling to make ends meet. Our two peer workers are involved in outreach support to vulnerable people in Ayr, high street and in the Wallacetown area of Ayr. They offer a packed lunch to those they meet, sort out practical issues e.g. phone call to relevant services, items of clothing, toiletries etc. They also attend the foodbank at Newton Primary School where they have provided support for complex physical health needs and to help people access emergency GP/hospital appointments and arrange repeat prescriptions
