Story

Oliver and Evan are 8-year-old twin boys with two different types of cerebral palsy. Oliver has dystonic quadriplegic CP, and Evan has spastic diplegic CP. They also have an older brother, Joseph, who is 10 and dotes on his younger brothers.

We have been raising money for Evan to have an operation called SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy), which enables children to move more freely. The goal for most children is to help them walk. Evan has since had his operation and is doing really well, but he needs help with extra physiotherapy, which the NHS cannot provide, as well as equipment to aid him in his journey towards walking independently. He will require new walking aids, benches, a tricycle, and various other pieces of equipment to make physiotherapy fun, e.g., trampolines, etc.

Oliver is severely affected and is sight-impaired. He cannot sit unaided, walk, or talk, and has epilepsy and scoliosis. He will need equipment for the rest of his life to be able to sit, such as comfy chairs and wheelchairs. We are currently looking to fund a trike for Oliver, which clamps onto our own bikes so we can all enjoy a leisurely Sunday afternoon along the beachfront. A few weeks ago, Oliver spent two weeks in intensive care due to a severe case of chickenpox, and his future looked uncertain. Fortunately, he is home now, convalescing, and enjoying lots of cuddles before he returns to school full time.

Although they are identical twins, their needs are very different, and in Oliver's case, complex. The money we are raising will help our family tremendously, and we cannot thank you enough.

Love, Nikki and Jason (Mammy and Daddy)

xx
