Story
Be inspired by Ultra-Cycling Legend Joe Barr and join him on his Guinness World Record Breaking Challenge to cycle the most miles in 7 days!
Joe Barr is attempting to cycle the most miles covered - 3,508m in 168 hours to support Cancer Fund for Children.
Joe is taking on the challenge as a tribute to his son Ross who was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2007. Joes family were supported by Cancer Fund for Children and benefited from a short break at Shimna Valley, which at this time was our therapeutic short break centre before we opened Daisy Lodge in 2014.
Over time Joe has seen how Cancer Fund for Childrens services have grown and developed and he wants to raise money to help us provide therapeutic short breaks at Daisy Lodge in Newcastle, as well as raise funds to build a new Daisy Lodge in Cong, Co. Mayo so that we can support even more young people.
If you have been inspired by Joes World Record attempt, you can get involved by completing your own cycling challenge and be part of an inspiring piece of cycling history.
Help Joe Barr and Cancer Fund for Children ensure that no child has to face cancer alone.
How can you take part?
Whether you are a keen cyclist or an amateur we are inviting you to take part in a cycle challenge throughout April. This could be by yourself or as part of a group - perhaps you can organise a sponsored cycle on the open road, or even jump on a static bike in your own home in aid of Cancer Fund for Children .
For support and advice on how to get involved and raise some vital funds for children and families impacted by cancer, please don't hesitate to get in touch with our Fundraising Team on 028 9080 5599 or email fundraising@cancerfundforchildren.com.
