Story
Rainbow Hub provides services to children and young people with physical disabilities as a result of neurological conditions or brain injury. We are often described as a lifeline by children and families from across Lancashire and beyond.
At this time of year we usually see hundreds of people gathering to take part in our Rainbow Ramble. Given the situation we have had no option but to cancel this year's event. This has been devastating for us as a charity. Not only is the Ramble the perfect opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our children and the commitment of our supporters but it also raises a staggering £30,000 each year.
Our income has stopped overnight.
So this year we are going to try something different...
We are asking all those who would usually take part in the Rainbow Ramble, as well as anybody else who would like to support us to make a donation and enter our virtual Rainbow Ramble on Saturday 9th May 2020.
Donations can be any amount. The usual entry fee for the Ramble is £15 for adults and £5 for children, free for those in wheelchairs and pushchairs. If you are able to donate that amount then fantastic, but if not, any amount you are able to donate will help us raise some of the £30,000 lost.
On Saturday 9th May 2020, as long as you stay safe and keep within the government guidelines, we are asking people to use their daily exercise to walk, run, or cycle the 5 or 11 miles we usually do for the Rainbow Ramble. If you are isolating, shielding or not a fan of walking or running you can skip, hop, roll or jump around your house or garden, do the hoola hoop, do keep ups, star jumps or anything else you fancy.
We'd love to see our own little superheroes doing challenges of their own.
Please share your challenges with us in the build up to the day and share pictures and videos of you completing your challenge on the day. If you want to set up you own Just Giving page and get sponsored for your challenge then even better!
We need your help. All of the children and young people who come to Rainbow Hub take part in regular therapy each week, not just at Rainbow Hub but with NHS services too. The children are all considered 'high risk' and shielding means those therapies are no longer happening. We are offering the best virtual support we can but the withdrawal of therapies will have a long lasting negative impact for many of our children. Help us be there for them.
We need to keep in touch with our families during this difficult time and be there for them and for the children when all of this is over. They will need our help more than ever and we can't do it without your support.
Let's all come together on Saturday 9th May 2020 and 'walk further for those who can't'.
Thank you x
