Rain, who is still a pup at just one year old, was rescued back in February in a truly awful state (photos below). He'd been desperately searching for scraps of food to survive. It has taken some time, but thanks to the generosity of IAPWA's supporters and the dedication of our Borneo team, Rain was able to get the help he needed, put on a good amount of weight, and was starting to enjoy life again as a happy, healthy dog. After all he had been through, we had planned to fly him to the UK to find wonderful forever home with a loving family.
Sadly, these plans have been halted as we have recently discovered that little Rain has viral papilloma - a type of skin tumour that is found on the lips, mouths and muzzles of dogs. These tumours, although not dangerous, develop due to a weak immune system, meaning Rain is very much still feeling the after affects of his earlier life on the streets. We will be surgically removing his tumours as well as attempting to boost his immune system again with a special diet before he is healthy enough to think about travelling to his forever home.
We know it is a lot to ask, but if you are able to support Rain's final steps to recovery, both our team and Rain would be so incredibly grateful. Rain is so close to the finish line and a happily ever after - let's not give up on him now. Thank you for caring - x
Please note: Should we be lucky enough to reach our target, any funds raised above this will be used where they are needed most, to help the animals in our care.
