Story
There is no doubt that 2020 has been a challenging and difficult year for all of us as businesses and individuals. The COVID19 pandemic has forced everyone to adapt and react around the world, and we are still reeling from the virus and its long-lasting impact. But as we start to recover and adjust to a new normal, some of the most marginalised and vulnerable people on the planet are being left to face a terrifying future.
Fragile communities and struggling families are now in desperate situations. Those already at breaking point have been pushed beyond their limits and those feeling the impact most of all are children. Railway Children is the industrys favourite charity and every year it works with children around the world who have no one else to care for and protect them. It reaches those on the streets fighting to survive a brutal existence, those using the rail network to run away from abuse and violence and those being exploited by predators.
This year, COVID19 has forced Railway Children to cancel vital fundraising events and face a significant loss of income. The loss of these life-changing funds could leave a generation of children who were already vulnerable in desperate situations with no hope of escape. As an industry, we cannot let that happen.
Senior figures from across UK rail have joined forces to create a brand-new fundraising extravaganza for 2020 Rail Aid.
We are uniting as an industry for a week of energy, activity, fun and a whole host of fundraising activities, all building up to the events culmination an exciting live broadcast on Friday 27th November. There are numerous ways to get involved, as organisations or individuals, with bingo nights, dancing challenges, quiz events and many more ideas available.
Every pound raised, sponsored or simply donated will help Railway Children be there for vulnerable children around the world who need them now more than ever. Together we can make sure they stay safe now, and as the world recovers from the impact of this devastating pandemic.
