Get ready to Race Santa!
You know the drill, he's making a list, he's checking it twice - but this year he's thrown down the gauntlet and challenged us to race him around the world too - virtually of course! We're in with a chance of winning if we all take on the challenge. Run, walk or jog - even just one mile a day - and we'll be able to reach our collective goal of 24,901 miles around the globe before Christmas Eve.
There is no better time than Christmas to give back to those who need it most and no better way to do it than by racing against the big man himself. Complete your distance your way and add a bit of fun to the festive season. What are you waiting for? Grab your trainers, sign up now and get ready to Race Santa!
Well done, you've finished Racing Santa.
4 weeks ago today, we began our race against Santa. We are delighted to tell you that all together, we raced 3,250 miles around the world. This has landed us in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Tashkent is the capital of Uzbekistan and is described as the most cosmopolitan city in the country.
It's time to hang up or trainers for now and enjoy the festive lights that can be found throughout the streets of Tashkent between now and the New Year. Whilst we didn't make it the whole round around the world before Santa, we have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this race with you. There's always next year to try again...
Twas the night before Christmas...
and all through the land, people were Racing Santa! Today's the final day of Race Santa so there's just a few more hours to get some more miles in, and although we might not be able to Race him round the world this year, we've so far raced him 2243 miles, that's just 40 miles outside Bethlehem, which we think is rather fitting for today! So well done everyone, we wish you the best of luck for these final hours and we'll be in touch next week with a final update! Merry Christmas!
Congratulations on reaching Africa!
With just three days left of the challenge, we have left Europe and have arrived in Africa. To be more precise, we are now in Alexandria. Alexandria is a port city in the country of Egypt. It is also the largest city on the Mediterranean.
Whilst we would love to stop and sit beside the sea, we must keep on racing to see where in the world we will end up on Christmas Eve
Keep up the island hopping....
This time last week we'd travelled as far as Corfu, this week we're now gracing the shores of Cyprus, Ayia Napa to be precise, but there's no time to party, we've got a Santa to Race!
With this weekend being the last one of the challenge make sure you stretch those legs and add the mileage as best (and safely) as you can. We can feel it, the elves are wrapping the last of the present and they're preparing the sleigh for the big day there's not long left and we need to give Santa a run for his money. Good luck this weekend, we can't wait to see how far you get!
Two weeks in now!
We have been racing for two weeks now and we're delighted to bring you another Race Santa travel update, as we have now reached the magnificent city of Istanbul Istanbul is the largest city in Turkey and what's most amazing about it is that it lies in both Europe and Asia. The only country to span two continents!
In order for us to get out of Europe and see the sights of Asia, we really need to get our miles in! Remember to link your Strava to your JustGiving page so that all miles are recorded and if you are tracking your mileage on anything other than Strava, you will need to add your miles manually to your JustGiving page. We can help you with how to do that if you need enjoy this net week of racing - you've got this!
Day 10....
TRAVEL UPDATE: Well done everyone, day 10 and were heading towards sunnier climates, as weve made it to the beautiful Greek island of Corfu!
Youve started off well with the total mileage sitting at 1,269 but with the halfway mark approaching this weekend its time to get those warm clothes on and get outside to start adding to your miles. If we keep going well be soon out of Europe and on to Asia but we need the whole team to pull together to get there good luck everyone, we can do this!
Hello Poland!
Our second update of this Race Santa journey for you and so far we have travelled an impressive 950 miles!
All of your walking, jogging and running has led us to a small City in Poland called Siedlce. Siedlce is situated just outside of Warsaw and is home to just over 77,000 people. Here you can take a beautiful winters' stroll through Aleksandria Park, however, they are expecting snow in Siedlce later this week so we best keep moving before we get stuck!
Well done, we're off!
Congrats everybody, the fun starts now! We'll be starting and ending in London travelling East around the world in order to Race Santa to the finish line in the UK on Christmas Eve. We'll be updating you every Tuesday and Thursday on this page and the Race Santa Facebook Group with the total miles we've travelled and where we've got to.
We've totalled the distance and so far we've already travelled 218 miles!
In fact, we've reached Leuven in Belgium just outside Brussels, which is the worldwide headquarters of Anheuser-Busch InBev, the largest beer company in the world - no time to stop for a drink though everyone.... we've got a long way still to go but WE CAN DO THIS!!
