Story
Race for Rainforest is a month-long virtual fundraising event that can happen wherever you choose to move, just do it in the month of May. We are challenging you to cover 50 miles throughout the month whilst raising money for people, rainforest and the climate crisis.
Globally 26% of people lack safely managed drinking water. In Papua New Guinea 40% of people drink from unsafe water supplies. The most common sources of drinking water across our partnerships in PNG are from streams, rivers, unprotected wells and, of course, rainwater.
With rising tides contaminating crops, sea level rise displacing people from their homes, and extreme conditions brought by El Niño drying up water sources, adaptation is the only option.
Rainwater tanks will provide safe drinking water for communities in PNG during severe weather conditions and natural disasters. But, what do water tanks have to do with rainforest?
Clean water is not only a necessity, its a lifesaver. When rainforest communities are healthy, so is their rainforest.
