Story
We've launched a special campaign dedicated to reducing social isolation in the North East which aims to raise £10,000 to help people of all ages access activities that can keep them socially connected, as well as improve physical and mental health.
From foodbank collections and deliveries for schools and vulnerable families, through to providing free online activities for young people with disabilities and telephone befriending for older people, the Foundation has provided critical services to thousands across Sunderland, South Tyneside and County Durham throughout the pandemic.
In particular, through the EFL Trusts Tackling Loneliness Together programme, the official charity of Sunderland AFC, has supported over 1,000 socially isolated older people with free telephone support, food parcels, activity packs and online activities to help keep them mentally and physically healthy.
But with funding for the programme due to come to an end in December 2020, £10,000 will ensure our life-changing support for those people will continue until at least March 2021, ensuring the most vulnerable in the community stay connected throughout the tough winter months.
