Story

QD Stores are thrilled to be taking on the Break Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge 2024 as part of their charity of the year commitment to raise funds for Break to help change the lives of care experienced young people.

Karl Ottolangui, operations director for the QD Group, said: “We all know that times are tough for charities as everyone feels the pinch of the cost of living crisis, so we’re delighted to be able to give Break some much needed support at this time. As a team of 12 we are all going to be working hard on our training and getting to 'peak' fitness for this challenge."

"The team have all been fantastic in really getting behind the charity and doing their bit to support Break, so taking on this challenge will be another step forward. Please do support us and donate now - every £1 donated will give us even more determination and know we are truly changing lives as we take on the peaks!”

This demanding one-day trekking challenge will take in the summits of Pen-y-Ghent (694m/2,276 ft), Whernside (736m/2,415 ft) and Inglebor-ough (723m/2,372 ft), all in one circular route starting and ending in Horton-in-Ribblesdale.

Make no mistake this is a tough challenge with up to 1700m of ascent, 39.2km in distance, all to be accomplished within 12hrs. So, requiring an average walking speed of 3.5km/hr!

Sarah Bunn, Fundraising Manager at Break, said: “We are absolutely thrilled that QD are taking on this challenge with us - it will not be easy, but we all know the huge difference their support will mean to the young people we support. Sponsor them today please and help get them over the peak of their target!”

QD is a very active charity fundraiser in the communities in which it is based. This year, it has already donated over £100,000 to local causes. Stores across the QD Group also have food bank collection points, which collect and distribute donations via local food bank schemes.

QD opened its first store in Norwich in 1985. The independent, family-run business now has 30 stores in Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and beyond. QD strives to offer ‘Value Guaranteed’ – doing its best to offer great quality products cheaper than the high street, and when QD can't be cheaper, it will always offer better quality.
