Story
A variety of fruit trees will be planted on Putney Lower Common this winter as part of the Queen's Green Canopy. Orchards are brilliant for wildlife and will bring blossom in spring and seasonal colour in autumn.
Originally planned to celebrate Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee, the orchard will now be dedicated in tribute to Queen Elizabeth II's extraordinary life of service.
The community are invited to make a contribution towards their planting and care.
Donations will help fund the purchase of a variety of fruit trees, the installation of protective fencing and will support the orchard's long term care with the funding of watering equipment. If we are lucky enough that we can raise more than the cost of the orchard, donations will go towards projects that help improve and enhance Putney Lower Common.
There is the special opportunity to sponsor one of the 12 trees for a donation of £500 - please contact Maggie in the Rangers Office to find out more.
