Story
The charity that cares for Putney Lower Common is inviting the community and those who love the Common to help restore the footbridge over Beverley Brook.
Currently closed to the public, the bridge needs major repairs. Survey work by structural engineers has stated that the existing timber sleeper beams are in very poor condition, with some missing. As part of the repair work, all the existing sleepers will be replaced, and the steel frame will be protected from corrosion and painted.
The cost to repair and reopen the bridge will be in the region of £15,000.
Please donate today to restore the footbridge. Your support will bring back the circular bridge walk and enhance the landscape along the Beverley Brook's banks. There will be a celebratory event when the bridge re-opens - please stay in touch and join us!
Update April 2022: Thank you so much to everyone who has made a donation to this project. We are over the moon to have now reached our target and will share more news about the work to restore the bridge soon. Any additional funds raised will go directly towards caring for Putney Lower Common.
