Story
Will you help support life-saving cancer research at Manchester?
One in two of us will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in our lives. Here at Manchester, we're tackling the disease from all angles - from developing novel new treatments to finding ways to detect cancer earlier.
In 2017, this life-saving research suffered a major setback, when Manchester's cancer research centre - the Paterson building - was destroyed in a devastating fire. But this year - thanks to thousands of donors and fundraisers - a world-leading new cancer facility will open its doors for the first time.
Today, you can support the next big step in Manchester's fight against cancer. Will you join in, and play your part in re-writing the future of cancer?
"With more research, who knows what could be achieved? If you can, please support. Your gift will give hope to people like me."
A hub for discovery
Manchester's new cancer centre - the Paterson building - will rank amongst the best on the planet. It will contain one of the largest concentrations of doctors, nurses and researchers in Europe. And it will pave the way for amazing discoveries that save lives around the world.
Solving the puzzle
Every pound raised through Purple Wave 2023 will drive forward the life-saving research - by helping to scale-up our cancer team and speed up research progress. You'll help bring an extra researcher on board the team tackling drug resistance, which is one of cancer's biggest puzzles. And by doing that, you'll help find solutions that could transform patients' lives.

Giving patients new hope
Your support will bring new hope to millions of families around the world. The new centre will be just metres from Europe's largest cancer hospital, The Christie, putting people with cancer at the heart of everything we do. The University's partnerships with the NHS and Cancer Research UK make this the perfect place to turn scientific progress into life-saving solutions for patients.
Be part of something special
