Cal Poly Humboldt Giving Day 2025 · 2 April 2025 ·
🎉 Giving Day Total Includes General Match! 💰
Cal Poly Humboldt Psychology students attend conferences and/or workshops for professional development related to their fields of interest, such as the California Association for Behavior Analysis (CalABA), Western Psychological Association (WPA), Society for Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP), National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). These conferences provide students the opportunity to present their research, learn more about their area of interest from experts in the field, and network with other professionals and researchers in psychology. Due to its rural nature, these opportunities are limited in Humboldt, so travel outside the area is necessary for attendance.
Students often self-fund their attendance at these conferences, which can be costly depending on location and registration fees. The psychology department makes every effort to support student attendance at these conferences. Still, as the department grows, we have more students wanting to attend and insufficient funds to support them all. During the 23/24 academic year, we could pay for conference registration to WPA for ten first-author presenters, but many more students wanted to attend than funding permitted.
Faculty strongly encourage students to submit their research and attend conferences and workshops because of the great benefits. Yet we know that the cost makes it difficult for some students to attend. With your support, the psychology department hopes to cover conference registration for every psychology student at least once during their time at Humboldt.
A gift today helps make these valuable experiences accessible to more students—please consider donating to help send a student to their next professional conference.
