Story

Join our amazing team of runners in one of the most enjoyable half marathons this year taking in all the best sights of London.

Places for those selected are free of charge but runners commit to raising a minimum of £350 (hopefully much more - last year's event averaged £1100 per runner). The event target of £25,000 will be used towards the launch of phase 2 of the ONE in EIGHT campaign (going live in May of this year).

Ping me on paul.sayer@prost8.org.uk or call 07946 511176 if you would like to apply.

What is the ONE in EIGHT Campaign

Phase 1 launches on 01 February 2022 and is an ultra-ambitious campaign to buy, donate and deploy six minimally invasive focal therapy treatment suites for prostate cancer into strategic NHS hospitals across the UK.

Phase 2 will follow in May 2022 and will boost the fundraising to deploy a further six suites nationally - this will ensure access to this incredible treatment option is available in an NHS hospital close to every man who needs it.

What is Focal Treatment for Prostate Cancer?

In the next 10 years alone, a staggering 500,000 men will receive a new prostate cancer diagnosis in the UK. Up to 160,000 of these men will have low to medium grade, treatable cancer and could benefit from newer, cutting edge, minimally invasive treatments, called focal therapy. BUT, incredibly, right now, almost all of those men will only be offered the same invasive, lifestyle-changing treatments as men with advanced cancers.

Focal therapy uses the very latest technology to treat early-stage cancer cells without harming surrounding tissue and organs. This means minimal side effects so these men can continue their lives after prostate cancer with normal lifestyle functionality. More invasive treatments will usually lead to incontinence and erectile dysfunction, the chances of which are dramatically reduced with focal treatments.

The fact that right now less than 5% of men who would benefit from these treatments will actually get them is unbelievable, and just shouldn't be happening! So please help Prost8 to change this now. After all, it could be you or a loved one who is the next 1 in 8 so make sure that the best treatment options are ready and available, just in case..

Focal Therapy is the biggest breakthrough for men with early stage prostate cancer in more than 20 years....

Prost8 UK is campaigning to make overtreatment of prostate cancer a thing of the past for men with medium-grade or recurrent disease. The NHS needs to expand deployment of new focal treatments such as ultrasound or cryotherapy faster. We aim to lead the way by donating treatment suites to the NHS.
