Story
For the past few years Chester Pride has supported families and individuals in need by partnering up with the West Cheshire Foodbank. Last year we donated over 4,000 items, providing around three months worth of vital supplies to those most in need over the winter. This year we know that more people than ever will need the support of the West Cheshire Foodbank, so our aim is to donate as much as we can to support our community.
Supporting the foodbank is a cause close to our heart, because statistically an LGBT+ person is more likely than a non-LGBT+ person, to need the use of the foodbank.
They might be a young person who has come out and kicked out from home, struggling to support themselves on a low paid job or Universal Credit; or they may be an older member of our community with no partner or family to rely on.
Through our partnership with the West Cheshire Foodbank we are able to help them get the food they need to support families and individuals, without prejudice or judgement, and in turn we are able to identify and work with any LGBT+ individuals that use their service, to offer ongoing and specialist support.
Any donations, plus gift aid, that you make through this campaign will be used to buy the goods that West Cheshire Foodbank are short of, with each £5 raised filling the equivalent of a standard brown shopping bag.
Your funding will go beyond just buying items, as it will help both Chester Pride and West Cheshire Foodbank to grow their reach, support more people, and in turn offer greater ongoing support to the most vulnerable members of our LGBT+ community.
We're also pleased to announce that our sponsor, Bank of America, will double the amount of items purchased, allowing your donation to go much further.
