Story
Prama's vision is a world where no-one is unfairly disadvantaged or excluded because of age or infirmity and where every person can enjoy life.
Our focus is on reducing isolation and loneliness - in addition, we support those living with dementia, brain injury and carers.
Our Pop-In Social Clubs are for elderly people in the community, all run on a weekly basis in existing community and church halls. The clubs are run by volunteers and provide social afternoons, most of which include games such as jigsaws, puzzles, quizzes, bingo, music, discussion and refreshments.
Memory Lane Groups are led by a trained dementia worker, supported by volunteers on a weekly basis. These provide a stimulating environment for people suffering with memory loss or dementia. The groups provide stimulating social activities involving reminiscence discussions, pictures, singing and music around different themes such as weather, jobs and colours. We also have a specific group for sharing memories of playing and watching sports.
Carers Groups offer carers the opportunity to sit and talk over a cup of tea, to others who may be in a similar situation to themselves. These groups have speakers on a regular basis as well as holding and distributing a wide range of information on issues affecting carers. We promote The Carers Card which gives access to reductions in the cost of Utility Bills, Council Tax and other services and activities.
Some comments from the participants or their family members -
My Dad & Mum attended Museum Memory Club today and I've been told it was a great afternoon and theyve already planning the next visit. Thank you so much.
We have never done anything like this before and we have really enjoyed ourselves. We cant wait for next week. Thank you.
This is by far the best club we have been to. We are made to feel like friends. There is always lots to do to keep our minds alert.
Your donation will ensure that we continue to provide these clubs, groups and activities.
Please contact us if you would like to do a fundraising activity and need our support to promote it - or just want to chat through some ideas.
