Story
The Mount Camphill Community's co-housing project in Wadhurst village - Pond House - needs the feature pond to be safe, beautiful and ecologically protected.
We have been very successful! Yes, we reached our target figure of £613,000 towards the renovation of Pond House! Heartfelt thanks to our many friends and supporters, amazing students, cohousers and families, and the amazing work of the Mount Camphill community colleagues!
It is time to extend our ask for help, now that we can welcome the new residents into our beautifully refurbished house and continue developing our landscaping with a beautiful boardwalk to protect and surround our unique and unusual feature, the pond.
Our new appeal is to raise £35,000 to install this much wished for and necessary addition to our planned refurbishment taking our property and our offer towards a sustainable and distinguished, long-term living space with our cohousers. With this boardwalk around our pond we can fully encompass and appreciate the landscape.
Pond House has recently been extended and refurbished to create a fabulous new home to accommodate six cohousing supported living members and a co-worker family and two volunteers in the centre of Wadhurst, a short distance from our main site.
Cohousing is a pioneering new model of provision offering supported, independent and community living for young people with learning disabilities. As part of our strategy to extend our cohousing provision, The Mount purchased Pond House, a large family home in Wadhurst, that will become a new, more independent home for supported cohousers choosing to live outside our main site, but within walking distance to it.
Your help, however large or small is invaluable towards our efforts to achieve our goal.
