Story
These are very uncertain times for both families and older generations who were dropping into Pendower Good Neighbour Project weekly sessions like; knitting with the Naughty Nanas, arts & crafts and our playgroups.
Covid-19 struck and we had to quickly change how we provide support. We have continued to help by delivering care packages, childrens activity packs and organising free food donations.
With self-isolation and the lockdown starting to ease, we are excited to be re-building an old overgrown piece of our garden and transforming it into a food social area, (socially distanced of course).
Once done, this area will contain a large outdoor pizza oven, BBQ, fire pit, and patio area with fold-away tables and chairs. Well be helping to develop cooking skills and the area will bring together some of our residents who have been self-isolating for a long time.
Margaret Batey who attends the Naughty Nanas craft group at Pendower Good Neighbour Project, says - Ive been coming to the group here for over five years now. Ive been self-isolating since March, so being able to meet up in the garden is worth its weight in gold. The new pizza garden will be a great space for people like us to meet in a safe and socially distanced way and enjoy a slice of pizza.
We really need support to enable us to purchase equipment for this area for our small groups to use. We will continue to use this space in the future for skills building, as well as running groups which reduce social isolation and improve the quality of life for Pendower residents.
Thank you for your support.
