John Hunter Children’s Hospital, part of Hunter New England Local Health District, provides specialist medical, surgical, trauma and neonatal care for children and young people across northern NSW. As one of three children’s hospitals in NSW, it supports tens of thousands of patients each year.

Story

The PICU provides state-of-the-art intensive care services to critically ill children and young people across Northern NSW. The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit is a dedicated eight-bed unit, staffed by specially trained paediatric intensivist care doctors, nursing and allied health staff. The PICU team takes care of children under 18 years of age with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions and to those who have sustained a major trauma.

Specialised teams from across the Childrens Hospital, will also contribute to the care of children and young people admitted to the PICU.
