Please meet Leah, our Christmas Star!
The Centre has been a lifeline to our family
Leah is 3 years old. She has an undiagnosed neurological disorder which means she has global development delay, hydrocephalus ( a build-up of fluid in the brain) and decreased muscle tone. Leah can struggle to communicate her needs and doesn't yet use any words. She needs lots of help to take part in and enjoy activities and needs constant supervision to maintain her safety and develop her mobility.
Since joining the Peter Pan Centre Leah has come on leaps and bounds. Leah is happy and content and will make her own noises as she explores her surroundings. Leah enjoys mark making, building and likes pulling faces at herself in the mirror. She enjoys water play and is good at pouring water from cup to cup, in between a good splash. Leah loves to play outside too.
Leah is currently learning to use picture exchange cards, a communication system that helps children who can't yet use words to make requests.
Leah isn't my first child to attended the Peter Pan Centre, but her needs are more complex than her brothers. The team will do whatever they can to support Leah and all our family, and definitely go above and beyond. They are friendly and welcoming and are never too busy for you. Every milestone your child hits whether it's big or small is just as exciting to everyone at the Centre as it is to you. We'd be lost without the Peter Pan Centre - Rachel, Leah's mum
