Story
Dear Friend of Pequot Library,
This last year marked a significant milestone that you should be proud of: Pequot Library Association's 135th anniversary. How did we celebrate? We affirmed our position as a destination library and arts and culture center for visitors from all over Fairfield County and presented 535 high-caliber educational programs and events—the majority of which were free and open to the public—as well as dozens of beloved community events. We are proud to continue providing free public library services and circulated 27,000 books/media to patrons from all over Fairfield, Westport and beyond. I applaud Trustees, staff, and volunteers, all of whom went above and beyond to serve our community in countless ways.
With your support, Pequot Library services and programs continue to enrich lives, young and old, as they have done for generations of Connecticut residents. Nearly 60% of Pequot Library’s $1.6 million annual operations budget is made possible by generous donations from individuals, foundations, grants, and businesses. These essential donations allow us to keep our programs and services freely accessible to toddlers and young children, school-aged students, families, caregivers, older adults, and researchers/scholars. Private support also enables us to preserve and share Pequot Library’s exceptional collections of rare books, archives, and manuscripts with K-12 school students and researchers.
In 2025 and beyond we aim to build upon the successes of last year and reach an even broader audience, and donations of any amount make a concrete and indelible difference. Please consider supporting Pequot Library in our mission to enrich lives and inspire all as we approach year-end 2024. Each and every contribution to Pequot Library brings more stories to our shelves, more moments to learn, and more opportunities to connect with one another.
Thank you for considering a year-end gift. From the Trustees and staff, I extend to you best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season ahead.
With appreciation,
Stephanie Coakley
Executive Director
