Story
The Pedro Youth Club, established in 1929 by Baroness Harwood, is one of London's oldest functioning youth clubs. Located in Hackney, it provides a safe haven for children and young adults to enjoy sports and personal growth.
Revived in the 1960s with support from Dame Elizabeth Taylor, the club faced challenges but was rescued in 2003 by James Cook, a former British Super-Middleweight Champion. Cook, who received an MBE in 2007 for his services to Youth Justice in Hackney, now leads the club as a volunteer, serving as Treasurer, Coach, and Mentor.
The Pedro Club continues its mission of offering a supportive environment for local youth to engage in sports and develop personally, maintaining its significant role in the community for over nine decades
