NPC Friends and Family provides scholarships to the amazing, inspiring students of Northland Pioneer College, which serves Navajo and Apache Counties, two of the poorest counties in Arizona. We empower NPC students to transform their lives, and the lives of their families, through education!

Story

Serphina is of the Zuni Water’s Edge Clan, born for the One Who Walks Around Clan. At age 19, she started working as an EMT intern in her small, rural town of Indian Wells, Arizona, and quickly found that she loved being a part of such critical, impactful work. After 15 years, she is advancing her career through the nursing program at Northland Pioneer College (NPC), “fueled by the fire that I have in my heart to serve my rural communities” across the Navajo Nation.

Serphina lives 75 miles away from the NPC nursing school and juggles work and family responsibilities along with school. Scholarships from NPC Friends & Family help make it all possible, offsetting transportation costs as well as the price of tuition, books, and fees.

NPC Friends & Family is devoted to helping students like Serphina, some of the most dedicated, courageous college students you will ever encounter.

Our college serves all of Arizona’s Navajo and Apache counties, a rural, remote area of over 21,000 square miles that encompasses towns like Winslow, Holbrook, Snowflake, Show Low, and Springerville and the tribal lands of the Navajo, Hopi, and White Mountain Apache people.

Many NPC students are similar to Serphina: while they may be pursuing a certificate in welding, an associate’s in business, or a bachelor’s in early childhood education, they are all dedicated to bettering life for themselves, their families, and their communities, and they are often overcoming daunting odds to do so.

NPC Friends & Family, Inc., is a 501(c)3, and every dollar raised through Pedal the Petrified goes directly to student scholarships at NPC. Your contribution is an investment in these students’ lives, empowering them to achieve their goals and multiplying your impact through the power of education.

Thank you for supporting these students’ futures through participating in Pedal the Petrified, donating additional funds, or sponsoring a rider!
