Story
Join the crowd of HSU parents and families who are making a difference to improve the student experience through gifts to the Parents & Family Fund. It is one of the most impactful ways to support your student and their peers at Humboldt State!
Gifts to the Parents & Family Fund are put to immediate use to improve HSU student experiences inside and outside the classroom. The Parents & Family Fund helps all Humboldt State students through programmatic support to areas like the Retention through Academic Mentoring Program(RAMP), the Library, Student Health & Wellbeing Services, and more.
Recent gifts to the Parents & Family fund helped expand the Overcoming Barriers to Health program, which supports HSU students facing unforeseen medical issues with medical co-pays, transportation, and healthcare services. The program is critical in ensuring that students don't drop out of school because they cant afford medical care. As little as $50 dollars in support to the Parents & Family Fund can make a huge impact on one student.
The Parents & Family Fund also helped support Community Engagement Mini-grants, available to students working with the Center for Community Based Learning, as well as students from the School of Education, Youth Educational Services (Y.E.S.), as well as the departments of Social Work, Kinesiology, Nursing, and Psychology. Mini-grants provide students with the opportunities for engaging with the community, hands-on learning, and strengthening ties between campus and the broader community.
When asked what the single most important thing their community-based learning experience did for them, one student said,
It is a great way to meet other students and get involved at HSU. It is a one of a kind learning opportunity and it prepares you for the real world.
These one of a kind opportunities would not be possible without the gifts from parents and families like you. Please consider making a gift to the Parents & Family Fund today!
