Story
Palatinate is the award-winning student newspaper of Durham University. Founded in 1948, it is one of Britain’s oldest student publications. Notable former editors include George Alagiah, Hunter Davies, Jeremy Vine, John Exelby, Cristina Nicolotti Squires and the late great Sir Harold Evans.
During term, Palatinate is printed on a fortnightly basis, reaching student readers across Durham. Unlike many other university publications, we operate without the assistance of a paid sabbatical editor. Our editorial board is made up entirely of full-time Durham students working to produce a professional-quality newspaper.
Palatinate covers all of the latest Durham news and analysis, as well as opinions, interviews, science and sport. We’re home to Indigo, an arts and lifestyle magazine, founded in 2010. As well as PalTV, our student TV station.
Our fortnightly print edition is solely funded through advertising and generous donations. Your support would allow us to keep providing news to Durham students, and opportunities to our Editorial Board members, for generations to come.
