Story
Above is a picture of some of the young people coming to the UK in February through CADFA's Building Hope | Voices from Palestine project.
We will be bringing a group of 14 people from Palestine (the West Bank) including 10 young people (boys and girls) to the UK to meet young people from the UK, share experiences together and tell each other about their lives - And then if we can we will go on to fundraise to bring another group later in the year.
We did plan to bring our group in October 2023. This was obviously impossible. We are now very much looking forward to seeing them in February and March, and working with partners all over the country will bring them to London, the Midlands and Welsh border, South Wales, Chester and Lancashire. Look out for the public parts of their programme on cadfa.org
BEFORE OCTOBER, WE WROTE...
The visitors will be young people who have taken part in Zoom links with schools in the UK and joined the Beyond the Checkpoints youth advocacy project in Palestine this summer. They will have a varied programme inclucing the chance to meet their Zoom friends in person.
Young people in Palestine growing up under military occupation and apartheid are confined by checkpoints, military walls and camps, no-go areas around Israeli settlementsand severely affected by systematic violations of human rights and the daily stories of child prisoners and people hurt or even killed by military violence.
Thise pictured here are from Jenin Camp and have recently lived through horrendous attacks in their camp
We know from previous visits what an amazing experience this visit will be for the young Palestinian visitors and a real eye-opener for young people in Britain who will meet and join activities with them.
We used to run similar projects with EU money which is no longer available to us, so we are dependent on our friends' efforts to create this special opportunity for the young people in both countries.
Thank you for any help you can give.
