Story
Indus Health Network's Pakistan Floods Appeal
The extremely heavy rainfall in Pakistan has resulted in catastrophic flash flooding leaving one-third of the country underwater, equal to the size of the UK. The worst hit areas have recorded 5 TIMES as much rainfall as the 30-year average. Many parts of the country have become inaccessible, Baluchistan and Sindh provinces are the hardest hit areas. The disaster has been described as a climate catastrophe by the UN Secretary-General.
The death toll has surpassed 1500, with over 2000 injured and more than 33 million people having been affected. The humanitarian situation is dire and could get even worse as flood waters move to more low-lying areas. This could result in more people being forced out of their homes, more damage, and more pressure on the areas where people are seeking safety. The stagnant water is a breeding ground for various diseases and injuries sustained during the floods.
Indus Hospital & Health Network is responding to this call and has immediately setup comprehensive mobile medical camps across Baluchistan, Sind, Punjab, and KPK, providing lifesaving medicines and emergency treatments. IHHN has set up Mobile Medical Units having primary care, maternal health, ANC, PNC, immunization and mental health program.
Our emergency medical camps have treated thousands of patients in several districts in Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Nowshera, Bhong, Dera Ghazi Khan, Tounsa, Khuzdar, Lasbella, Naseerabad, Jhal Magsi, Jafarabad, Suhbatpur, Thatta, Badin, and Karachi. The most common medical problems seen by IHHN healthcare workers are malaria, diarrhoea, acute respiratory infections, skin infections, and urinary tract infection.
We are expanding our life-saving emergency medical aid through the network of mobile medical camps in all four provinces and needs your urgent support. Your generous contribution can help us provide lifesaving treatments and save more lives.
